Robert S. Murphy was born in Landsdale, PA, was commissioned in 1986, and was designated a Naval Aviator in 1988. A graduate of Villanova University with a BS in Computer Science and of the Naval Postgraduate School with an MS in Operations Research, CDR Murphy is currently assigned as the Air Vehicle Lead for PMA-263’s VTUAV (Firescout) program. Past tours include serving as the MH-60S Air Vehicle IPT Lead where he led the procurement effort for the MH-60R/S common cockpit multiyear contract and managed the MS III/fleet introduction of the MH-60S. He also served as Operations Officer and Detachment 6 OIC with HC-5 in Guam, Operations Officer of HC-3 in Coronado, CA, and Aircraft Handler aboard the USS INCHON (MCS 12). He is a veteran of operations in Somalia, Haiti, Iraq, and Beirut.

Murphy, his wife Stephanie, and daughters Erin & Caitlin, make their home in Lexington Park, MD.
